In many different regions of the country, ice carving shows or winter festivals have become a very popular winter attraction. Local business associations and chambers of commerce have recognized the advantages of hosting such an event. Properly planned and advertised, an ice festival can attract hundreds, even thousands of people into town during the dead of winter, a generally slower time for retail and hospitality industries.
