Competition Ice

Ice carving competition has always been a prominent component of our careers. It helps us keep in tune with what is going on in our industry beyond the walls of our shop. The National Ice Carving Association (NICA) sanctions regional and national ice carving events during what we call “competition season”. January through mid March there are different events every weekend, mostly throughout the mid-west.

Kevin Gregory and Tony Young of Ice Concepts have been deeply involved in this circuit for over 20 years. Together they have numerous first place finishes including a first place victory at the United States National Championship in February of 2009 in Chicago, earning Kevin the title of 2009 NICA National Champion.

In addition to the NICA circuit, we also compete at an international level. We have represented the United States at many international competitions including two Winter Olympic Games in the Cultural Olympiad Event. In 2002 Kevin and Tony competed in Salt Lake City, Utah where as a team they took third place with over 20 nations represented. In 2006 Kevin and Tony were two out of seven Americans chosen to represent the United States in Torino Italy in individual competition. Kevin again took third place in realistic category and Tony took fourth place in abstract category.

In addition we have competed in Fairbanks Alaska, Europe, and Canada.
